Chi-Shing Leung

Shing was born and raised in Hong Kong and graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with his Master of Music, majoring in clarinet performance. In 2009, Shing was appointed as the conductor of the wind orchestra of his alma mater, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a position he held until moving to Tasmania in 2018.
As a performer, Shing was the clarinetist of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and was regarded as one of the most active musicians in Hong Kong’s contemporary music scene. He has premiered over a hundred new compositions in his career and performed in worldwide music festivals including ISCM world music day, Mona Foma, Hong Kong Arts Festival, and the ASEAN Music Festival.
Shing is a member of the UTCMP Wind Orchestra and an instrumental teacher in the Esk Band program. Shing took up the role of MD for Intermediate Band in 2022.
