Luke Beasley
Luke has been involved with the Community Music Programme since 2001.
In 2003 he joined the conducting team initially working with the Beginning Band and then working with the Development Band for 7 years.
After a year’s break he returned in 2010 to take on the role of Musical Director for the Symphonic Band. In 2020 Luke was appointed Musical Director of Wind Orchestra and in 2023 he took on the added role of Chief Musical Director for the Community Music Programme.
As a performer Luke has played with a wide range of local and interstate ensembles including the Ross Challender Big Band, The Bossafly Jazz Quartet, various local theatre shows and of course the Community Music Programme’s Wind Orchestra where he has performed on bass trombone, tuba and percussion. In 2003 Luke successfully auditioned for a scholarship to attend the Star Lake Music Camp in New York.
Luke studied at the University of Tasmania where he gained his BPA(Mus), B Teach, and Grad Cert (Orchestral Performance). In his professional life Luke is a music educator for the Department of Education where he works as director of the Esk Band program based at Newstead College.
