Fiona Mowat

B.Ed., Ad Cert Mus (Jazz), Grad Cert Mus (Performance)

Hailing from country Victoria, Fiona started her musical career in the local brass band at the age of five. Upon finishing high school, Fiona moved to Melbourne and studied both conducting and trombone at the Box Hill Institute. Fiona is also a past member of the Australian Wind Orchestra (Trombone).

Since moving to Launceston in 2000 Fiona has been the Director of Bands at St Patrick’s College, where she conducts and maintains up to five ensembles. Fiona is also currently the Program Director for the Launceston Catholic Schools Music Program, which runs in the five local catholic primary schools. Being part of the conducting team in the UTCMP has been a privilege and one that Fiona relishes. She took over as Musical Director of Symphonic Band in 2020.
